About Paralympics Australia (PA)
PA exists to lead Paralympic sport & create a more inclusive world. As the peak body for Paralympic sport in Australia we have 23 member organisations & are responsible for selecting & managing the Australian Paralympic Teams to Summer and Winter Games.

Background
World Para Powerlifting, under the governance of the International Paralympic Committee, acts as the International Federation (IF) for the sport of Para Powerlifting.
PA, as the member of the IPC is also recognised as the Australian member organisation of World Para Powerlifting & is recognised by the Australian Sports Commission as the organisation responsible for the delivery of the Para Powerlifting sport pathway.
Following the submission of a Para Powerlifting Sport Strategy & What It Takes To Win (WITTW) as part of the LA 2028 & beyond planning process, & subsequent securing of Win Well Funding from the AIS specific to the sport of Para Powerlifting, PA aims to revitalise and grow the sport.
About the Role
The General Manager, Performance & Pathways – Para Powerlifting, is a key leadership role responsible for driving the development, growth, and success of PA's Para Powerlifting Program. The role will be responsible for leading & delivery of the Para Powerlifting LA 2028+ High Performance Strategy & develop a high-performance program which delivers consistent podium performances at benchmark events, including Paralympic Games, World Championships & Commonwealth Games.
Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery and reporting against the Para Powerlifting LA 2028+ High Performance Strategy.
- Lead the Para Powerlifting workforce.
- Develop, deliver and report against key KPI's within the operational plan, aligning to the High Performance Strategy, PA's organisational and Para Powerlifting Program objectives.
- Develop Para Powerlifting specific policies aligned to the High Performance Plan and Development of the sport.
- Management and oversight of the Para Powerlifting High Performance budget, ensuring there are sustainable allocations of resources for competition delivery, athlete support, classification delivery, development & talent initiatives to develop the sport & achieve performance outcomes.
- Lead the Para Powerlifting Planning, Monitoring and Review (PMR) process with the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS), meeting all timelines and deliverables as part of the PMR process.
- Develop and maintain key stakeholder relationships with the AIS, the National Institutes & Academies of Sport (SIS/SAS), Commonwealth Games Australia, system stakeholders and key PA employees.
- Provide leadership in implementing best practice.
- Drive strategies and initiatives which align to Win Well and Play Well objectives.
- Lead the development of Selection Policies for Benchmark competitions & Para Powerlifting Programs.
About the Person
The ideal candidate will demonstrate proven leadership experience in high-performance sport, with the ability to implement strategic plans, drive sustainable growth, and foster a culture of excellence and wellbeing. You will be proactive in engaging diverse stakeholders, managing relationships effectively, and seeking innovative solutions to advance Para Powerlifting in Australia.
Education & Training:
- Tertiary qualifications in sport management, education and/or sport science is preferable.
- Successful completion of the following sport integrity training courses via the Sport Integrity Australia eLearning hub:
- Child Safeguarding in Sport Induction
- Competition Manipulation Sports Betting Course
- Anti-Doping Fundamentals Course
- Classification Fundamentals Course
- Annual Update courses completed each year as required
Understanding of the Australian Sport system within Australia, including knowledge of Para sport is preferable.
